Wednesday, fripperyfactory.com opens for business. The first five orders (or reserved custom work comissions) will receive $20 in free gifts to celebrate me finally finishing web work and returning to my actual forte: mini food.

Seriously. What does that even mean? If I spend money on something and only get one chance at it, of course I’ll be reading (and probably re-reading) the instructions as I go along. If I don’t pay for it, and if I can switch everything back around if something goes wrong, I’ll jump right in and learn on the curve.

That’s the way I’ve been working on this website. Once this project is mostly together, I think I’ll write a blog post about my trials and tribulations from start to finish, just in case you folks someday want some virtual real estate of your own. I’m no web programmer–and it’s constantly frustrating to have this vision of how I want things to turn out, and to not be able to just spin them into reality with some magical HTML incantations. That said, I think it’s possible to create something that’ll do for the time being, which I can improve as I go, and which can someday be handed off to a web designer who will take it to the next level.

I’ve got a lot of cool projects I’m waiting to launch (including a comprehensive guide on materials for making mini food), but they all ride on fripperyfactory.com being finished. If you don’t see much of me in the next few days, it’s not because I’m avoiding you, it’s because I’m trying to get everything ironed out for The Big Move. Which is going to be basically like a non-stop mini food party.

Last time I wrote (it was a while ago, wasn’t it?) I left you all hangin’. I did it on purpose. I’m not sorry. (Ok, maybe a little.) The point is, I really have been working on something cool: my very own Frippery Factory website. 

I actually squealed when I typed that, and I am not a squealer.

No, things aren’t done yet, and as I work on building the website, I’ve had to let go of a lot of perfectionism and accept that, since I’m building the thing myself using WordPress software (which I have no experience with), it really is a work in progress. As I go along, I’ll touch things up, make it prettier as I go, consider it a journey rather than a finished project.

And I thought that you guys would get a kick out of snooping around as I build it. Check and see what’s new, stuff like that. However, please note that fripperyfactory.com is not a “live” online store yet. You cannot place orders through it (well, you can, but I won’t accept them). You can browse, tell me what you think, suggest features. 

I may be kinda absent from the blog and Etsy for a few more weeks, but you can come hang out with me on the new website, and I’ll always be ready to talk to you via email, Twitter, and Facebook.
